Empowering Musicians, One Note at a Time

About Larimore Music Academy

We believe music education isn’t optional, it’s essential to life. Your curiosity and imagination shape how you hear and engage the world.

Our education model is built on more than piano lessons or memorized theory; it’s a creative lab where students build real understanding and learn to think musically through a mentorship structure designed to build momentum. Whether you’re learning your first chord or writing your first piece, you’ll gain the structure and direction to grow.

Here, students go from passive listeners to passionate creators. Through the art of storytelling, you learn to weave emotions into compelling musical structures and breathe life into your ideas, crafting finished cues that resonate with the soul.

If you want more than traditional lessons, and feel there’s a deeper purpose to your creativity, this academy was built for you.

Stop paying for endless lessons that keep you dependent on a teacher for life. Invest in a professional workflow, develop authentic musical thinking, and take full accountability for consistent practice and follow-through; building the momentum needed to launch your own creative projects. Why? Keep reading...

Students Deserve Better

Traditional lessons often focus heavily on homework and textbook progression. LMA focuses on helping you think musically, understand how and why music works, so you can apply it creatively on your instrument.

The truth...

When music education becomes a never-ending cycle of redundant lessons, students can end up with lots of homework and very little growth or understanding of what they’re actually doing. This brings up two very crucial points:

  • When teaching is treated like selling hours, the teacher is capped, the schedule becomes the product, and burnout becomes normal.

  • The result is often stagnation for students and stagnation for teachers.

Had I, Kyle, personally stuck with that system, I would not be the composer or the musician I am today.

What's the solution? I'm glad you asked!

  • Problem: Rescheduling, time zone conflicts, and inconsistent practice slows progress and wastes time.

  • Solution: A clear structure and a consistent plan keeps momentum strong across schedules, so students practice with purpose, progress faster, and don’t waste time guessing what to do next.

Students don't need a better teacher, they need a mentor who knows both curricular training and emotional intuition. A teacher, well...teaches information. A mentor instructs creative thinking.

Students learn with an experienced pianist and composer who balances structured curriculum with creative intuition, gaining clear fundamentals and independence; empowering them to be confident music-makers, not just lesson-takers.

Meet Your Instructor

Kyle Larimore | FOUNDER & MUSIC EDUCATOR

Hey there! I’m thrilled to have you here.

Music has been my constant companion since childhood. 20 years ago, I began formal classical piano training, delving into theory, technique, and performance through Bella Musica Studio. Eventually, this paved the path to becoming a professional composer and producer.

However, in recent years, a pivotal moment came to me:

Music isn’t merely about memorizing notes; it’s about cultivating creative intelligence, and bridging the gap between foundational frameworks, creative thinking, and providing a middle ground between elementary and college education; helping you see what's possible without stressing about the barricades of higher institutions.

As a pianist and composer, I’ve dedicated years to honing both the discipline and the freedom that music demands. I’ve written, produced, collaborated, experimented, and yes, even broken a few rules after mastering them. This journey has not only shaped my creative process but also my teaching approach.

What I’ve consistently observed, particularly when working closely with students, is that growth occurs when structure meets imagination. When someone stops asking, “What am I supposed to memorize?” and instead begins asking, “What can I create with this?” is where true growth takes place.

That’s exactly what this academy is all about.

While private mentorship sessions are curriculum-based, Creative Lab, a group membership with live workshops and more, doesn't solely focus on rigid textbooks or endless worksheets. LMA believes in establishing a solid foundation so that you can confidently explore your own unique musical voice. I’ve witnessed students transform from uncertainty about music theory to composing their own music, from frustration to clarity, from “I don’t get it” to “Wait… I can actually do this.”

Whether you’re just beginning or rediscovering your creative spark, my role here isn’t just to provide instructions; it’s to guide, challenge, and support you as you grow and evolve.

In Creative Lab, you can join live workshop sessions that will guide you on your musical journey, featuring live discussions focused on improving your knowledge of music theory, sharpening your creative thinking, developing your compositional skills, and gaining a deeper understanding of your instrument. This is where you learn how to think musically, experiment confidently, and build real creative skill, without the rigid textbook grind.

Inside the Lab

How Creative Lab Works

LMA Creative Lab (stages).png

1. We Start with Musical Thinking (10 minutes)

Every session begins with a simple but powerful idea.

Not “Here are seven modes to memorize.”

But something like:

  • Why does this chord feel emotional?

  • What makes a melody stick?

  • How does tension actually work?

  • Why do some songs feel bigger than others?

We zoom out before we zoom in.

Because once you understand how music thinks, the technical pieces start to make sense naturally.

2. We Demonstrate in Real Time (20 minutes)

Music isn’t just explained here; it’s shown.

Such as:

Let's build a song structure on the piano.

I’ll demonstrate the process of composing a track.

Effective methods for understanding music theory.

Witness how ideas transform into sound.

You’ll observe mistakes, adjustments, and experimentation; the true creative process, not a polished, pre-recorded illusion.

This is where music transitions from theory to reality.

LMA Creative Lab (stages).png
LMA Creative Lab (stages).png

2. You Experiment (20 minutes)

Instead of rigid assignments, you’ll get creative experiments.

Small challenges that stretch your thinking without overwhelming you.

Maybe you:

  • Write 8 bars using only three notes.

  • Create tension without changing chords.

  • Rework a simple melody into something cinematic.

  • Take a technique exercise and turn it into music.

You move at your pace.

You apply what fits your instrument.

You build your own musical voice.

2. We Reflect (10 minutes)

Growth happens in reflection.

At the end of each session, we talk:

  • What clicked or stood out to you?

  • What felt confusing or complicated?

  • What surprised you?

  • What are you going to experiment with and how will you apply what we learned?

  • What do you want to focus on for the next workshop?

Inside the community group, you can share progress, ask questions, and learn from others. This is where Creative Lab becomes a living ecosystem.

Not just a class. A culture of music creators.

LMA Creative Lab (stages).png

Creative Lab isn’t random.

It follows a 60 minute framework that grows with you.

We revisit core ideas in new ways.

We layer complexity gradually.

We connect theory to real-world sound.

You won’t be thrown into deep water without support.

You also won’t stay stuck in beginner mode forever.

It adapts as you grow.

The Big Difference

  • This isn’t your traditional "turn to page 394" kind of learning.

  • It’s not rigid academic theory and directionless guidance.

  • And it’s not passive video consumption either.

  • It’s a hands on, think outside the box mentorship structure, including a live workshop inside a creative community, guided by a working composer who understands both structure and experimentation.

  • You’re not just learning notes; you’re learning how to build musical worlds.

Key Benefits

  • Learn by watching real music get made (not just theory or “dry” lessons).

  • Live demos of Kyle’s actual workflow: composing, scoring, producing, arranging, sound design, templates, tools, etc.

  • Real-time Q&A while the work is happening (“why that instrument?”, “what does that tool do?”, “how did you get that sound?”).

  • Practical, current teaching because workshops can be built around Kyle's current client work, tracks, cues, albums, and more.

  • Hands-on, fun experience; more like a “music theme park” than a traditional seminar-style video call.

  • Always something to look forward to with a steady rhythm of workshops (goal: bi-weekly).

  • Community access included (Creative Lab Community private group) to stay connected between live sessions.

  • Get feedback and encouragement outside the workshops by sharing in the group and learning from other members too.

  • Member-driven topics: polls and discussions decide what gets taught next, so the content matches what members actually need.

  • Flexible membership: join, take a break, and come back; less rigid than a structured session.

  • Great option if private mentorship sessions are full (since spots are limited), so people can still grow and stay involved.

  • Ideal “next step” after leveling up: once someone becomes advanced, Creative Lab keeps them expanding creatively beyond private mentorship.

  • Monthly one-on-one member assistance available for piano and music creation, with a rotation allowing only one student per month.

  • Inspiration and momentum for your own projects; even if the demo is Kyle’s project, the process transfers to your music.

  • Potential in-person experiences in the future as the community grows (events/meetups/workshops beyond online).

Private Studio Mentorship vs Creative Lab Membership

  • Mentorship: structured session progress from beginner → intermediate → advanced with clear levels and direction.

  • Membership: ongoing creative expansion, real-world demonstrations, community, and member-shaped workshop topics.
